This floating waste water treatment facility, invented by Ivan Vesely, Director of the Czech Oceanographic Society, could help clean up Alaska villages (even big ones, like Anchorage) by filtering discharge that typically just dumps into Cook Inlet or a nearby bay after passing through a settling tank. (I know, we were shocked to find out, too, just how primitive our sewage treatment facilities are.) Maybe, if it was adapted to wetlands or... (think of other ways to fend off ice.)
